Saving Lives: Crowd Sourced Naloxone

Today the Surgeon General issued an advisory on Naloxone, urging more Americans to carry the drug that reverses an opioid overdose. This is the first time in 13 years that a Surgeon General Advisory has been issued: the ability to get Naloxone during an overdose is a matter of life and death.

This is why Altrix Medical has created, and is offering free of charge, the first publicly available crowd-sourced Naloxone App. Think of it as Uber for Naloxone.

NaloxoFind helps people witnessing an overdose to locate and contact Naloxone carriers in emergency overdose situations. NaloxoFind allows anyone to identify and locate registered Naloxone carriers within a two-mile radius, share GPS coordinates and communicate directly with those carrying this life-saving drug.

If you carry Naloxone, please download and register today. If you don’t carry Naloxone, please keep the app on your phone because, as the Surgeon General said, "No mother should have to bury their child, and especially not when there's a life-saving medication that virtually anyone can access."

NaloxoFind is in an open beta and available on the Apple App Store for iOS devices and on Google Play for Android devices.

As always, we'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm at matthew.shaker@altrixmedical.com.
