NSF Awards Follow-on Funding for the SmartAED
Updated: Oct 21, 2022
We are excited to announce that Altrix Medical, LLC has been awarded nearly $1 million from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to continue research and development (R&D) on our miniaturized smartphone AED! This funding will drive the continued development of the SmartAED to ready it for FDA approval and make it available for sale to interested users. More details are available at our latest press release.
This award means so much to us as a company, and to me personally. I remain as committed as ever to seeing our vision become a reality. Sudden cardiac arrest takes far too many people too soon. Changing the way we think about AEDs – from an appliance installed on a wall somewhere to an adjunct to your personal device – will turn national SCA outcomes around. And it will literally save hundreds of thousands of lives.
A huge thank you to all of you for your continued support, inspiration, advice, and feedback. Stay tuned for more updates and, as always, if you have questions feel free to drop me a line at matthew.shaker@atlrixmedical.com!
