Altrix Completes Smartphone AED Prototype
Updated: Oct 21, 2022
Happy New Year everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve updated this feed and, as we approach the end of a roller coaster year, I thought I’d provide an update. The big news is that we’ve finished the prototype of the Smartphone AED. Through a lot of hard work and innovative thinking, we’ve shown that we’re able to generate the same life-saving waveforms as major AEDs on the market today. But, more importantly, we’ve shown we can do it in a pocket-size case that integrates with a person’s smartphone. What we’ve accomplished in 2016 proves out our original vision: to make AEDs more accessible, to make them simpler to use via integrated video prompts, and to leverage smartphone GPS technology to get help faster.
Cardiac arrest takes too many people too soon. It’s a leading cause of death for people over 40. It’s a huge number when you consider it. It affects more people than breast cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, AIDS, traffic accidents, house fires and gunshot wounds combined.
As we prepare to ring in 2017, we’re excited about the prospects of our device. Pushing forward into the new year, we’d like to give a big thank you to everyone that has supported this important work. Please watch this feed for more updates and, as always, feel free to drop me a line with questions or comments. I’m at Matthew.Shaker@altrixmedical.com. Happy New Year!
